We advise you to install the Connective Browser Package in advance if you want to sign with a Belgian identity card. The chance to run into technical problems during the signing process will be smaller. You can find the step-by-step eID signing procedure below the installation instructions.
Preparing the Connective Browser Package software
- Go to https://plugin.connective.eu/ to get started with this software.
- If the message "Installation completed successfully" appears: skip this step and go to the signing procedure below.

- You will be asked to install 1 or 2 things:
- the Connective browser extension (required for some browsers)
- Chrome:
- Click on the button "Take me to the Chrome Web Store".
Click on the button "Add to Chrome".
Click on the "Add extension" button in the pop-up that appears.
Then navigate back to the Connective Plugin Wizard webpage.
Click on the button "I have installed the extension".
Go to the Connective software step below.
- Click on the button "Take me to the Chrome Web Store".
- Firefox:
- Click on the "Download extension" button.
Click on the "Continue to Installation" button in the pop-up that appears.
Click on the "Add" button.
Then navigate back to the Connective Plugin Wizard webpage.

- Click on the "Take me to the Chrome Web Store" button.
Click on the "Allow extensions from other stores" button in the pop-up that appears.
Click on the "Allow" button.

Then navigate back to the Connective Plugin Wizard webpage.

- Click on the "Download software" button.
Open the connective-plugin-installer file (or follow the instructions if Mac).
Click on the "Next" button in each screen.
Agree with the terms of use.
Then navigate back to the Connective Plugin Wizard webpage.

- After installation, a message appears and you are ready to start signing via eID.
- If the website keeps repeating to install: temporarily disable your anti-virus, firewall, etc or use another device and try again.
The signing procedure
- Open the mail you receive from "[email protected]" and read the content carefully.
- Click on the link to get started with the document.
- A link is secured and can only be used once.
- If the error message "Your URL has expired." appears: click on the button "Request a new email".
- Read the document carefully and scroll to the end.
- Agree with the terms by placing a tick in the box and click "Start signing".
- Select the signing method "BeID" and press the "Next" button.
(optional, if multiple methods available) - Type the legal notice exactly as it is displayed and press the "Next" button.
(optional, if requested) - The Connective Browser Package is required to read the eID and can be installed by pressing the "Install the Connective Browser Package" button.

- If the website keeps repeating to install it: temporarily deactivate your anti-virus, firewall, etc or use another device and try again.
- Connect the card reader, insert the identity card and enter the pin code in the pop-up that appears.
- The digital signature will be added and you will receive an automatic confirmation by e-mail.
- An automatic confirmation by e-mail follows when all parties have signed.
